1. Will It Fit? The Golden Rule of Measuring

The most common mistake is buying a sectional that is too large for the room—or worse, won't fit through the front door!

Measure Your Space

Tape out the dimensions on your floor using painter's tape to visualize the walking paths around the sofa.

Check Your Entryways

Measure door widths, hallway turns, and ceiling heights. Most sectionals require at least a 32" wide door opening.

2. Understanding LAF vs. RAF

This is the most confusing part of sectional shopping. The "Facing" refers to the position of the arm when you are looking at the piece, not when you are sitting on it.

  • LAF (Left-Arm Facing): If you stand in front of the sectional, the arm is on your left.
  • RAF (Right-Arm Facing): If you stand in front of the sectional, the arm is on your right.
